The meanderings of mark and form in my work follow a pattern of connections. Shapes and symbols emerge through layers of interrelationships. The trails of my process evidence themselves in the imagery that makes up the layers of my paintings and prints. Memory locates the content of the work in an emotional topography, and time and place afford glimpses into the instances of experience that provide the impetus for my work.
The unconscious sorting and sifting that precedes the beginning of a work have been hallmarks of my process. The history that is contained in the visual artifacts in the body of a painting is of great interest to me. Traces of thought, buried and resurrected become the links that connect one moment in time to another.
